SAT TEST PREP AND ACT TEST PREP HELP
The SAT/ACT test is one of the main factors colleges use to measure your readiness and “ability to survive” their college. Ultimately, most colleges require either of these exams in their application. MY Education Guru’s college counselors help students choose the best test for them. The SAT is an exam that focuses primarily on critical thinking and allows nearly a third more time on each section than the ACT. The ACT is more focused on speed and accuracy. The SAT places an emphasis on reading comprehension, grammar, and math, while the ACT is comprised of the same sections and an additional science section that examines the student’s ability to do data analysis. Thus, the SAT is a generalist critical thinking exam, while the ACT is a more involved science-focused exam.

Our 4-Part Approach
Assessment
A MY Education Guru coach will sit down with your student and proctor a diagnostic test. The coach will then review the assessment with the student and help them set mini-attainable goals.
Strategies
Some of our strategies include the 100% correct rule, passage mapping, and the 3 W’s (where, what and why). These strategies are customized specifically to a student’s learning style. For example, if a student is a visual learner, we will have a student cross out the parts of an answer that are wrong instead of just crossing out the letter.
Troubleshooting
MY Education Guru coaches will analyze a student’s specific approach to a question type and help them implement problem solving techniques to prevent the same errors from happening again.
Confidence
By reaching each of the goals we set with our students, they will realize just how amazing they can be!
What makes us different is that we take the time to truly understand and listen to our students, so we can make something as dry as test preparation fun, interactive and personal.
Student Assessments
Before working with your student, we take the time to understand their distinct learning style, preferences, and goals. We offer a range of complementary and paid comprehensive assessments depending on student need.
Complimentary Assessment
Our complimentary assessments help establish a basic understanding of your student’s needs and how our Gurus can help. Each assessment includes a SAT test prep with a brief breakdown by section, identification or errors, and a general performance assessment.
Paid Comprehensive Assessment
Assessments vary in intensity depending on the test and student needs. Detailed assessments better assist our coaches to establish a foundation and clear plan to ensure your student has the tools and support for success. Comprehensive assessments offer insights that lead to very real and substantial improvement in your student’s performance.
Each assessment considers any accommodations and learning differences your student might have and includes a summary of test sections and expectations, a highly detailed assessment by section (timing, errors, and error category), and a complete individualized plan of action by section as well as general recommendations for success.

STANDARDIZED TEST PREP FOR ISEE/SSAT/HSPT
Each year over 60,000 students take the ISEE (Independent School Entrance Exam), SSAT (Secondary School Admissions Test), or HSPT (High School Placement Test) in preparation for acceptance to top private schools. In this increasingly competitive environment, scoring an average score of 650 on the SSAT, 850 on the ISEE, or 500 on the HSPT is no longer enough. Leave it up to our gurus to help your student in the top percentiles!
STANDARDIZED TEST PREP FOR GRE/GMAT
When deciding which test to take, it’s helpful to know certain areas of the GRE or GMAT may be easier for some students than others. These sections include verbal and quantitative reasoning, as well as accommodations.
In the GRE, verbal reasoning contains English vocabulary that’s more advanced than the GMAT. Thus, you’re better suited to take the GMAT if English is not your first language. Similarly, the Quantitative Reasoning section of the GMAT is more logic-based, while the GRE’s is primarily geometry. Thus, if geometry is not your strength, it would be best to choose the GMAT.
Our gurus have the testing know-how to make sure you play to your strengths and score competitively. For example, only the GRE allows you to save or return to previous questions. This makes it beneficial and recommended for students with test anxiety.
